Last spring I was referred this awesome couple by my friend Sheri of Capture It Photography and last fall I photographed their engagement session in Devon (just outside of Edmonton). It is one of my most favorite engagement photo sessions to date! We got a lot of variety, gorgeous fall colors and I think really captured who Lindsey & Dallas are and how much they love each other. I really enjoyed getting to know the two of them and couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding!
Finally Saturday May 23 arrived. :) The day started when I met up with Lindsey at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church on the south side of Edmonton to photograph her bridal prep. She and her bridesmaids were having a snack and laughing as the guys arrived outside the church, a little early because Dallas had a surprise for their guests…he was going to “enter the church” by repelling from the rafters of the church! (He’s a rock climber/coordinator at the Wilson Climbing Centre at the University of Alberta — we even got to take some photos there during formals!)
Their ceremony was filled with loving touches (an acoustic trio sang a song by Ed Sheeran…they were so amazing, plus not one, but two grandmas shared a special reading) and finished with a wonderful kiss. We left with the fun wedding party to take pictures at Whitemud Park and the U of A, and then headed back to the reception already in progress in the conference room at Edmonton’s Polish Hall.
Their emcee, Dallas’ sister Rachel, brought the house down with her jokes, games, and sweet little touches throughout their program. The musical DJ stylings of Ms Stacey of Pop Jukebox were seriously amazing, y’all. She’s super fun too and can get just about anybody out on the dance floor! The couple also set up a wicked games area for their guests to play while resting their weary dancing feet — everything from board games to card games to Wii, they had something for everyone.
I absolutely loved your wedding, guys, thanks again for picking me to be a part of it! I’m only moderately jealous of your Hawaii honeymoon, by the way…I hope you had a wonderful time.
And thanks to my pal Corry-lyn for being the excellent second angle during the ceremony and formals! You’re awesome.
