Brianne + Eli were referred to me by their neighbor (and my lovely second shooter for this wedding, thanks for your hard work!) Carlin last spring. You might remember their engagement photos at Edmonton’s river walk area and downtown from last summer. Their love story is so cute and really shows what a small world we live in. They met through mutual friends when they were little kids (cue: awwww!) but didn’t reconnect (or connect the dots, even) until years later.
Their Valentine’s Day wedding ceremony was held at Edmonton’s All Saints Cathedral downtown. Maybe it’s just me but from the outside the church one would never guess the gorgeous stained glass and wood work that awaits you inside! It’s a genuinely beautiful, historic cathedral and I loved photographing in it.
Brianne looked amazing in her Allure dress that she found at the (seriously) wonderful Novelle Bridal Shop on 124 street in Edmonton. The dress fit her perfectly and, as you can see in the images below, Eli thought so too and couldn’t keep his eyes off of her!
In the days leading up to their wedding much of the snow in Edmonton had melted! I contacted their wedding reception venue to ask if we could take some photographs on their patio since the snow was gone from the roof of the hotel (and therefore wouldn’t inadvertently fall on someone’s head). They agreed! I was pretty excited to tell Brianne the next morning…until I woke up to find about 2 feet of snow had fallen overnight! The great news was that our outdoor photos would have freshly fallen snow and for a February wedding, that’s pretty special in and of itself!
We headed over to Henrietta Muir park and snapped a few images of the wedding party there together and then gave them their reprieve to warm up in the limo (from Revolution). A few pretty golden light images of the couple in the cold and we made our way to the Hotel Macdonald where we utlized the stunning, historic interior for some images as well.
The Wedgewood Room was decorated beautifully in royal blue and silver for their reception of about 100 guests. And the food from the Hotel Mac was, as always, mouth-wateringly delicious. (Beef tenderloin in a cream sauce…omg.)
Brianne & Eli and their wedding party were so fun and laid back on their wedding day; Carlin and I had such a great time capturing their happiness, laughter and tears and spending time with their friends and family too. Thanks for letting me be part of one of the best days of your lives, B + E! All the best in your future!
