My parents divorced before I entered elementary school. Not long after that, my mom met a man she would later marry. That man would go even on to adopt my little brother and me. He had a son from a previous marriage and he and my mom would eventually add another little brother to the mix. We were a blended family. It wasn’t always easy but the relationships we cultivated were well worth the effort. I love my brothers (yep, the only gal!) regardless of our blood-percentage. :)
Partly because of my (condensed-for-blogging) backstory above, I feel like I really connect to this little family. It’s the second year in a row I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph Shauna, Cory and their daughters. We had a great session the first year and it was even better this time around — I could legitimately see and feel the friendships that these girls have built. The bond is noticeably stronger and they’re definitely friends…and working on that “sister” part.
To that point — Shauna and Cory also recently got engaged!! They’ll be making this really fun and dynamic family “official” and I couldn’t be happier for all of them.
