Fort Edmonton Wedding | Janelle + Joey

I first met Janelle and Joey after I photographed their friends Shannon & Cody’s summer wedding at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. Joey proposed on a beach vacation and then they returned home to find out Janelle was expecting! Fast forward to our meeting and Janelle was 9 months pregnant with the super adorable little Rylie (see below)! I had a great time getting to know these two through last year — they’re both super down-to-earth and fun, as are their families and friends. I photographed their little family of three during their urban engagement session during the spring as we knew it’d bring some nice contrast to their rustic & vintage inspired wedding at Fort Edmonton Park.

Janelle and Joey said, “I do” in the beautiful grotto outside of St. Albert Catholic Parish in front of almost 300 guests. Joey’s uncle officiated the ceremony. Janelle looked stunning in her Enzoani gown that had an elaborately detailed overlaid lace train. We did some family photos at the church and then headed to Fort Edmonton to do some formals among all the historic buildings — such a gorgeous backdrop for pictures! Janelle’s beautiful bouquet from Bunches Flower Co. in Edmonton held something extra special…she was given a silver keepsake necklace with her late father’s handwriting on it that she wrapped around her bouquet so he was near her all day.

Their extremely detailed rustic reception was amazing! There were so many barnwood and lace details throughout the candy table, the centerpieces and the guestbook table. The natural light of the Blatchford Field Air Hangar at Fort Edmonton was a photographer’s dream! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many details come together so perfectly at a wedding. The sunset provided a wonderful backdrop just as the party really got started.

Congratulations Janelle + Joey! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day. I had a wonderful time at your wedding and getting to know you. I hope to be able to watch Miss Rylie grow. All the best!

Thanks to Grace for being a great second shooter!

Thank you for being such down-to-earth and fun people to work with, and for the kind words about my work. They say that to never work a day in your life…find a job you love. I’ve done that and working with people like your family is icing on this delicious cake! Hope to see you guys soon! <3
